OPQG Quilt show!

I went with a friend last weekend to the Ozark Piecemaker Quilt Guild's quilt show...

Not usually a fan of red, but I really like this one!

I think Kaffe Fassett would approve, non?

There were sooo many cute quilts!  But also a lot of duplicates...

I keep thinking of Rush songs, when I look at these!

There were at least 5 Bargello quilts in the same pattern as this one, only in different colors.  I'm not going to post all of them,
just the one in one of my favorite colors!

I bet these are like potato chips...

There were a few of these stack and whack hexagons...but I especially liked this monochrome one.

In general, there were a lot of hex quilts, from these, to paper pieced ones...

This one is so pretty, and amazing, since it's hand-pieced.  And so is the one below...

These raw-edge circle quilts were popular as well...I saw 3 different ones of those.  I love the quilting on this one!

Crows were a popular theme as it was Equinox weekend:

This one was my fave, though...perhaps for the entire show.

Tiny quilts made quite an impression this time...neither of these little gems was bigger than 13"!

I cannot imagine even trying to do one of these!

These are soo cute!  And tiny--1/2 inch yo-yo's!

And finally!  Some appliqué to drool over! LOL

Is there anything cuter than tiny appliquéed berries?  How about some botanicals?

I took so many pictures that the camera's battery could not keep up...so no pics of the vending area downstairs.  I must say that there were as many well done quilts down there as there were upstairs.  Some even better, IMO.

We scored a cute little favor from one booth, though...

These will go great with the other vintage (and not so vintage) buttons in my collection...

Road trip?

And last but not least.....Bras!  That's right, bras....

All in all, it was a fun day looking at quilts, and dreaming about making one of my own!

Mabon Blessings

I never said I wouldn't write corny poetry:

Happy Fall, y'all

Happy Mabon, too

To all my pagan friends

God/dess loves you!

So now there's another one...

Behold, another Cthulhu emerges...

I could almost have said "Same song, different verse" for this l'il'lhu...

But this version is Cthulhu by Rural Rebellion, which is very similar to Guilia's version, save the tentacles and wings...I liked Rural's wings better, so I used them for both amis.

I made this this tiny elder god pretty much the same way as the other, except for the arms.  With the first 'lhu, I crocheted the arms to the neck on the last round of the body pattern.  But this time I crocheted the underside (the bottom side of the tube) of the arms on the second to the last round and the top of the arms (the top side of the tube) with the last round.

He's got a little traveling ahead of him...he's bound for the West coast...so look out mere mortals!

Haiku!

When I wrote this little haiku (my first try in Japanese), the English translation wasn't foremost in my mind.  It almost works in English...almost.  I added the parenthetical to make it work :)

Rains are pouring down

The soil is drinking (it up)

 Birds are getting wet

This

morning I took a little ramble in the woods near  Senior's house.  It was a lovely little stroll, ambling here and there.  Soon, I heard scrabbling around me and noticed that I wasn't alone...

He was so cute, and I desperately wanted to be friends.  But off he scurried, up and up the tree.

I tried to pursue him as he fled...

I begged for him to slow down, that I just wanted to see him...

But whoosh, he leapt from tree to tree, and I followed, snap snap with my camera.

At last, I had him cornered.  He stood eyeing me.  Sizing me up, wondering if I could be a friend.

Amazingly, he let me hold him, however briefly.  I knew that he was a creature of the forest, and the forest was where he should be.  So off he went again...

Katsu, the ninja squirrel by Trish Young made with left over Lamb's Pride Worsted in M-07 Sable.  I embroidered his features with DMC Cotton Embroidery Floss in #310 (black) for the eyes, and #167 (a light, golden brown) for the nose and irises.

May I be eaten

first!

Here's a Baby Cthulhu by Giulia.

I used Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn! in #789 Pistache.  The color is positively impossible to photograph...but this is fairly close.  In the sun, it looks like glow in the dark green! :)

The pattern was really fun to work, although I did do a few modifications...as always...'cause I like to mess with stuff.  You know...right?

I lengthened the arms,  lengthened the middle tentacles, and added 2 more longer tentacles on the following round.

I looked through the animal eyes that I had, and all I had was yellow eyes with pupils.  I thought this little elder god needed green eyes...so I got out the acetone free fingernail polish remover and got rid of the yellow paint.  I really have to remember to be more careful, as I marred the finish on one of the eyes and had to make a third.  I used some sparkly (!) dark green nail polish to give him the winkers he'll need to wreak havoc on all mankind.

I think they turned out pretty good, as did the rest of him.  He'll be on his way soon to terrorize make someone happy for their birthday.

So

the girls are gone...the 2 Easter Eggers are missing.  My mom tried to save them, but she was too feeble to.  While I know loss is a part of having livestock, it just really sucks to know that they suffered...

Hang on!

Here's my newest amigurumi:

Snoopy and his pal, Woodstock!

Both of these really cute amigurumi are by Bethany Scofield of bethsco blog.

You can find the free patterns for Snoopy here, and Woodstock here.

I'm still working through the Eldress's stash so I have no idea what the black acrylic and yellow mohair is; only that it's a worsted weight black, and the yellow is a sportweight, mostly mohair blend.  The white yarn is Vanna's Choice acrylic in, duh, white.

I'm toying with the idea of making a doghouse and googles to complete the set...what do you think?

I made

new flashcards, and the Ponderer made mud, err seed balls...

Kanji on one side, Hiragana/Katakana/English definition on the other

I find that flashcards really help to increase vocabulary...this time I'm learning the Japanese words for colors.  がんばります。

The Ponderer made these great seed balls with pumpkin and dill in them while he was away at camp...cool, ですね。
